About Us

Hi, I'm Greg, and I started Slight Scents.

This company started as a project to make candles for my mom. She loves candles, but her sensitivity to strong fragrances made it difficult to find ones she could enjoy. I was gifting her unscented soy candles, but at the rate she was burning them, it made more sense to try and make them myself instead.

As I learned more, I started testing fragrances in smaller quantities and found she didn't react. An allergist later told her she's not actually allergic to fragrance like we thought, but has a sensitivity to strong scents which would give her coughing and sneezing fits, and bad headaches. Most candlemakers focus on creating the strongest scent throw possible but with this lighter approach, things don't get too overwhelming.

Strong fragrances you'd more commonly find are great for many, but I suspect a lot of people prefer a more subtle candle for a variety of reasons.
